5 Reasons to consider Qlik to be your open Data visualization platform

For many years now, I have been scratching my head about one thing. Why don’t we see more Qlik based visualizations on public websites? As someone super passionate about using public data for public good, Qlik is an obvious choice for me when I think of cities, health agencies and pretty much any public entity wanting to share data with the stakeholders aka the citizens. And there are some great examples of this out there, just not many in North America. This short post is my feeble but hopefully effective way to share why you must look at Qlik for open data sharing.

1) It’s easy! Qlik’s already a web based front end, which means you can embed individual objects or an entire sheet using simple Iframe coding. You’ll find plenty of examples of these throughout our blog: https://www.ginqo.com/blog-and-news

2) Less Overhead: If you use Qlik for internal analytics, you can share the same applications with the public, provided of course the data is freely available and can be shared, which is often the case in many public sector settings.

3) it’s Pretty: Check out this Govt. of Dubai Portal: https://gsp.dof.gov.ae/extensions/ODPDOF/Sector.html Using mashups, all visuals are customized and beautiful. Here is another great example from Qlik: https://qlik.fortune.com/

4) Flexible Licensing: Sometimes, licensing can be a hurdle, especially when you don’t know what the uptick from the public will be. Off late, Qlik’s become quite flexible and with consumption based licensing you pay for what get’s consumed.

5) It’s Intuitive: For a general audience, you need something that’s simple to navigate. Check out this Ontario COVID-19 tracker app to see if you agree:
